e x p o r t s

An extremely large port bay, Lu Se is known for harbouring both commercial and leisure ships. Tourism for the caves and their gem deposits, their beaches and the known laid back jovial attitude of the people is a competing point within the island's economy against the exportation of jewellery, raw metal ore, water and the occasional food and drink products such as rum and medicinal remedies. Gems of any shape, any size, and of every type can be found on Lu Se and can be made into any form of item upon demand. Along with these precious items, weapons of any shape and size can be bought, and made at the island and are exported.

>>Weapons such as swords, spears, bows and arrows, you name it we sell it
>>Gunpowder and their respective guns
>>Gems
>>Jewellery pieces
>>Medicine
>>Exotic Foods (mainly seafood)
>>Exotic Drinks

The lone body mass to the east of the Continent of Guarmi, the massive island of Lu Se because of it's size experiences two main climates. To the south where the Gear City of Lu Se lies, the weather is slightly humid with clear skies, and clear oceans and beaches to lap the sandy and rocky shores. At certain times of the year the temperature is known to become unbearably hot, but the general temperature stays at a warm tropical range. The massive city, carved out of a fallen out cave faces the sea and is speckled by pillars of limestone stalagmites left by the ancient cave system. The city centre is coddled by a crescent shape wind carved cave wall that faces the island's single Blue Hole. This enables the harbour of the island to take any ship of any size. Either side of the city centre are lined with beaches accessible by foot. Tropical foliage grows between the buildings and line the river pebble roads that make up the streets, as well as line along the beaches.

The waters of the caves are known for their clarity, and a majority of them are lit by the bio-luminescent animals that make the caves their homes, making the need for lanterns to light paths almost unnecessary for most caves. At night the caves are known to give the entire island a dull blue glow, making the appearance of the island by offshore ships as well as on a clear day from the continent, a bit of an ethereal sight. Within the pools lie an abundance of tropical fauna and flora that are connected to the corals that grow along the beaches of the island. The east of the island's beaches are extremely rocky and rough with clear cut cliffs carved by the wind, while the west has the more relaxed waters. Most public caves can be accessed by the beach, while the industrial cave lines are accessed by the two railway lines that run from the factory to the back of the city's main wall.

The Hollow Plains are a vast range of flat land that has very, very little trees and animals. Only extremely tall grass and a few rare plants are known to grow here. The ground is so brittle that just a little added pressure is known to cause the land to fall and break into the caves below, making travelling on the surface extremely dangerous. The grass grows to waist high and is in constant motion with the wind that comes down from the mountain ranges to the north. Small animals shift and live within the grass, some known to be fatal while some completely harmless. If one were to want to go to the north of the island, by a guide's advice, the use of one of the cave lines are recommended. A few hundred kilometers from the city itself, underneath the Hollow Plains lies the Underground Industrial factory where the islands gems and metallic ores are processed for export. The factory is extremely large, and its smoking chimneys are in actuality the only things other than grass showing above ground.

Moving farther north, the wisteria lined Beyond Lands lie with their undulating hills and cold mountain ranges. The air thins the more north you go, crisp enough to bring a puff of breath with a word. There is a constant blow of wind running down the mountain range to the Acoustic Forest and the Hollow Plains. Massive deep holes lie in between the trees of the Forest, as well as a few rumoured beasts- the more common being a large reptile like beast that guards one of the larger holes to the centre of the forest.

Known to be laid back, jovial, but sportive and adventurous the people of Lu Se are surprisingly close despite the island's geographical size. Families are extremely close and easy going in terms of relations and marriage. It's a joke amongst tourists that with the abundance of holidays that the people simply make up holidays for an excuse to not work and go for a swim or have a drink with some friends. They are a lot more accepting of hybrids despite their official banning made by the empress and almost ignore the law for the sake of being a humanitarian. If there was anything that one would have a problem with, would be if someone were afraid to swim or be unable to. More often than not, the inability to swim is a target for teasing and amongst kids sometimes bullying as swimming is a way of life within the island no matter the race.

The nomads of the Beyond Lands Temple are even more accepting than the rest of the islanders themselves. They're known to be humble and just a bit uptight and quiet compared to their more boisterous counterparts but are respected amongst everyone and return their respect in return.

Marriage is accepted amongst everyone and anyone who believes that they are within the right. Discrimination is not tolerated in terms of affection within the island. However the people are a bit less lenient towards those who are outsiders, and take a great pride in being who they are and what they stand for and almost feel threatened when someone tries to enter their family outside of Lu Se. However this hostility can be easily thrown off by a simple show of proving one self to the family. As to how this is done, differs per family and per person.

Death is accepted as a time that comes when someone's time here has finished and is taken as a sign of relief for the family of the deceased. The body is decorated with their best clothes and burned in front of the family within the island's Parlor, where the ashes will stay until Maejang Il.

Work is done by people of all ages, and is seen as not really 'work' but as a way to occupy one's time. If you're hungry, go fish, if you're bored go in the caves, need clothes- well that's where the money would come in. Essentially, money is only needed when it's needed, so the pressure to get a job isn't as strong as it is compared to the rest of the continent. The most popular jobs amongst people are fishermen, cave guides and blacksmiths, the third being working within the factory itself despite being the highest paying occupation.

Other than the weekly party down by the beaches, the official festivals of the island include

Kiga Keun Mul: which occurs twice a year with the flooding of the cave systems. Consequently the high waters flood even the city and makes traveling in the knee high waters just a little difficult. As a result, an island wide holiday where businesses are suspended until the waters receed is given. The waters stay for at most two days before receding completely. Most people take this as a sign to relax and stay home as even the beaches are flooded with waters. Most children take this time to peer over their balconies at the fish that swim within the streets curiously.

Sujib Deung: Occuring once a year, this special festival is where all the light of the caves from the bio-luminescent creatures and plants collects to form a single large spirit called Mul Ilgob. The coming of this spirit is signified by the gradual dimming of the light within the caves over a few days before a single night the lights increase suddenly, condense and form the spirit. This spirit then slinks in from the main cave, passes down the main road of the city and enters the Blue Hole where it will rest and dissipate to return for another year. It is said by the locals that this spirit is the collected life of the island itself and is revered by many. During the passing of the spirit, those who are able to control the elements bend their waters towards the spirit, feeding it and ensuring its safe journey. The waters given by the people are normally lined with Lu Se's unique deep red saeng-gang flower and perfume. Those who are not bending, bow in respect to the spirit thanking it for another healthy and prosperous year for the island and wear a ring of saeng-gang flowers around their necks as well as their best clothes before drinking the night away once the spirit has dissipated into the depths.

Maejang Il: The day of the dead for the people of Lu Se, where the boxes containing the ashes of those who have passed in the last year are decorated extravagantly with tropical flowers before being brought to the sea, to be taken by the spirits of the depths to the other world. Tears of relief roll down the faces of the people, knowing that their loved ones are passing. On this day, the monks of the temple venture down to the city to ensure the passing is as it should and stay a night for festivities before making their way back to the island's north.

Keun Mulgogi: It's not a festival per say, but it is a day where the fishing haul done by the fishermen of the island is extremely large. An abundance of sea food dishes are made in an effort not to waste and drinking and dancing is projected amongst the city.

Because of the harsh climate clothing styles normally are akin to that of the light jinbei and yukata worn during the summer. It's common for many to roll up their sleeves to expose their arms out of custom, or to wear a closely fit dark coloured full body suit under the light cloth of the yukata to act as a dive suit when swimming in the caves to keep warm.

Their clothes come in a variety of colours and patterns with common specks of jewellery of different coloured gems and the occasional flower lining their hair

Jobs on the island include fishermen, cave guides, jewellers, blacksmiths, teachers, Parlor workers, factory workers, dock workers, miners, inn owners and many more! With the island's relationship with Guarmi, the highest paying job overall would be blacksmithing

Education is primarily home schooled and hands on. It is not uncommon to have kids working 'adult' jobs, drinking and enjoying life as any adult would. It is also not uncommon to have a child take on apprenticeship with someone else.

Ahhhhh so I was slightly worried about the clothes I've got for my chara, I read yukata and beach and kind of gave my girl a modified one that I think would be easier for her to move around in, but I'd still like to be sure that it's not too different? sta.sh/010jduroult basically it used to be a yukata but she chopped it up a bit to accommodate her legs and arms (short skirts aren't as easy to move in and anything too tight on her feathers makes them fall out) So I put a loose band across her arms to look like a yukata and cut the skirt so that she could walk easy with her chicken legs.
